It is Christmas 2012. I feel like whispering, let there be light, let there be love. For although the powers of darkness possess the earth at times, we are creature of light, of our sun which sustains our life. I keep thinking that when the guns and jets are silent and the Syrians are given the chance to decide their future that the breeding of thousands of years in the lap of civilization will come through and save them and their Syria. There are many prophets of doom preaching disintegration. lawlessness, hatred, dissolution of the country, more terrible suffering and crimes. But if I can love enough to heal, if you can love enough to heal and if he, she, and they can love enough to heal and be willing to embrace a country teetering at the edge of the abyss, be willing to dedicate their lives to save it, then it might pass to be that the Syrians have saved Syria. Let us learn healing from the Healer.

A friend of mine, Ruthanne, wrote commenting on my words: ...only love can heal what hate and arrogance have done to the cradle of civilization…my friend Youssef says that humanity was born in Syria and has come full circle to die and be reborn in Syria too.
