As God is our witness

Red roses for peace

Red roses for peace

I was looking in my papers when I cam across the  note below  which I wrote in the early days of the Syrian Revolution. I wrote it in August 2011 when the Syrians marched under banners pleading for and repeating the call for a peaceful Revolution. It is especially poignant to me because today on Friday 1 February, they are marching under the banners of: The International Community is an accomplice in the Massacres of Assad against us.

I wrote

As God is our witness, as the world is our witness, as history is our witness, we shall we will bring them down to justice. Every drop of blood they have shed will come back to haunt them. Every child they have tortured will stand in judgement upon them. We shall try them in front of the whole world so that misfits and murderers like them will not darken the face of heavens ever again.  We shall do that without violence. We shall do that with our red roses.  We shall show the whole world that you can topple the tyrants without armies without guns and bloodshed. Be patient beloved freedom makers. Soon the red roses of peace will spread all over the world and they will be born in honour of you.  Be patient beloved Syria. I see an ocean of red roses advancing upon the government of death. Silmiya Silmiya Silmiya Peaceful, Peaceful: let it always be peaceful.
