Ode to Freedom

As Syrians continue to die, continue to suffer and as their epic story of untold anguish continues to be written in the blood of children and the destruction of their lives, I would like to remind the world that the Syrians started their Revolution in the name of freedom and for freedom.

They who are embraced by freedom

And touched by its wings of yearning and passion

Shall have no peace shall have no home

Shall have no rest

Shall have no loves

But the consuming flames of sacrifice

So that the chains are broken

In the heart in the spirit in the intellect in the sinews

And in life.
