Aleppo has sustained terrible damage during the current war in Syria. The scud missiles, intensive indiscriminate bombardment by the Syrian army of Assad including bombing with barrel bombs has almost annihilated the Old city and vast residential areas. The shelling exchanged between the rebels and the Syrian army has added to to the damage, especially damage to heritage. I have tried to document some of the cultural damage in my posts on Aleppo.
